The awkward first blog post

Hello there and welcome to Chameleon Creative Content!

I’m Charlotte, the owner and sole employee of this business. I always find first blog posts a little awkward to write (hence the title) so I thought I would use this first post to introduce myself and my business to you.

Sure, you can find out all about me and what I can do for you on my about me page but I wanted to share a little more about my story. The story of how I came to start helping small businesses build trust and engagement with their customers through creative and colourful content solutions.

So how did it all begin?

I had been working in marketing and communications for nine years. I started as a coordinator for a B2B business, moved to an agency that serviced mainly fashion brands, dipped my toes in the world of internal communications and finally settled as a content marketing executive for an automotive company.

As my career developed so did my personal beliefs, opinions and interests. I soon realised that my true calling in life was to help people. People who don’t have a half a million pound marketing budget to splurge.

I wanted to help honest businesses (and people) maximise their content marketing efforts by using their website, newsletter content and social media to build and grow their business. I also wanted to help bring their brands to life through their words by adding colour and personality to get them noticed.

That was the dream.

So I assessed my situation and decided that that’s what I was going to do. I handed my notice in at my job and Chameleon Creative Content was born.

What can you expect from this blog?

To me it wouldn’t have been natural to start a business without a blog. As a writer and content marketing expert (I hope!) I understand the power of blogging. Research carried out by Hubspot found that companies that published over 16 blog posts per month got almost 3.5 times more traffic than companies that published 0-4 monthly posts. So I knew I needed a slice of that pie.

This blog will be full of tips and advice on how to grow your content marketing efforts as a small business. It will range from providing quick tips to improve your online writing to in-depth posts on how to really set yourself up for success online.

Do you need to focus on online content?

Yes, yes you do! As a small business online content is even more important than ever. At the end of the day, people buy from companies they trust. Writing captivating blog content, sending helpful weekly newsletters and being super friendly on social media all contribute to that trust.

Research suggests that 81% of shoppers and 94% of B2B buyers research online before they make a purchase decision. That’s a heck of a lot of people to isolate if you’re not active in the online space.

If you’re reading this thinking you’ve left it too late, don’t worry. Through some clever content creation and specific audience targeting, it’s not too difficult for newcomers to get in front of the right people.
